Although the Meridian Leisure Centre has been open since February, it got its official opening on the 21st July when the Princess Royal visited it. She arrived in the afternoon by helicopter, landing on the Wood Lane football pitch.

The Princess watched dancers from Lisa's Street Dance Group perform Lady Gaga's Poker Face. They are part of a Street Dance class for teenagers at the Leisure Centre which has been running for the past 10 weeks. These dancers will be performing at the Skegness SO Festival.

Anne then greeted the waiting crowds and spent some time chatting to the mayor and other council officials involved in the Meridian Centre's development, before taking a tour of the building.
