The Mayor, Andrew Leonard, fired the starting pistol on the 2014 Louth Run For Life. This event, in aid of Cancer Research, has been taking place in town since 2006. Since then the 5km run has grown to encompass events for men and women, as well as a 1km junior race.

The weather was cool and fresh, with a few spots of rain but nowhere near enough to make the going difficult due to mud.

One man ran the men's race carrying a heavy barrel, whilst another wore a full backpack. Some of the costumes were wacky, others just baffling.

There's a serious reason behind all of the fun and eccentric costumes, and that's raising funds in the battle against cancer. For more information or to donate, check out Cancer Research UK's website.
