![]() Louth, a Lincolnshire town, is famous for St James church, with its towering spire. Lately it's also become known for an astronaut, Michael Foale, who was born in Louth. The place has a somewhat twee image, but there's more to the town than quaint markets and old-fashioned architecture. Louth is not as timewarped as the tourist board would have us imagine. There are internet cafes, and a fair amount of construction work and regeneration is going on. As well as a new bus station and theatre, there have been projects to improve Spout Yard and Springside. In places Louth is an extremely modern town. There are no trains, though. It's not that modern.
