The Princess Royal visited Louth on the 2nd of December to open the new Wolds College on North Holme Road. Princess Anne arrived by helicopter at around 11pm. The visit was just one of four engagements she had planned for the day.

After opening the college, The Princess was able to chat to students and lecturers in the motor vehicle workshop and the hair and beauty salons. She was also presented with a posy by Megan Quinney-Newland of St Bernard's Special School.

The Wolds College offers a range of vocational courses in motor vehicle engineering and hair and beauty, as well as a number of general courses related to business such as management, team leading, food hygiene, ICT, and health and safety. The college aims to provide courses for young people aged 14-19, as well as for people in work who want to improve their skills. It also has conference facilities available for hire.
